Our house in a disaster.

I haven't blogged in months, but after all the mess that happened a little over three weeks ago, I just have to do it!

I woke up one morning at 4:45 AM hearing an awfully loud noise and I thought, "Is that the furnace or the refrigerator?" Well, when I walked toward the kitchen the noise was so horribly loud and I saw water pouring out of the cabinet under the kitchen sink and "Oh my goodness" the kitchen floor had about 2 inches of water on the floor, plus it went into the carpeting of the Family room, Dining room and Living room.

I was devastated! I woke Al up, and not knowing what to do or who to call at that time, I called our dear neighbors across the street. I know I would wake them up but I didn't know what else to do or who to call. When Lena answered the phone, I apologized for waking her up and told her what happened.
She said she would have Merlen, her husband, come over. Within minutes he was here and when he saw the mess, he went outside and turned off the water faucet that is in a large compartment against our Mobile Home on our driveway. Thank God he knew what to do, bless his heart! Al nor I would have known about shutting off the water outside. What actually happened was that the faucet under the sink burst. Merlen came back in, removed the broken faucet under the sink and later went out and bought a new one to replace it.

When we told Tony and Lucy about what happened, Lucy called our Insurance Company and they had a Company by the name of "Service Masters"'
that came to soak up all the water and they drilled holes all around the baseboards in the Kitchen, Living room, Dining room, Family room and also in the Laundry room, plus they had 14 huge fans all over the house with hoses going into all the holes to dry everything up under the floors, plus a whole mess of hoses on the kitchen floor which made it very difficult for me to walk in there with all the pain and swelling I’m having on my feet from the "neuropathy".
And they had a HUGE BLOWER outside on the driveway drying the floors from underneath the house and I can't begin to talk about the horrible noise all those blowers were making, both inside and outside.

This went on for almost a week and when they finally removed them, they came to replace all the baseboards and put new padding under the carpeting. They brought a stack of linoleum samples to choose from and thanks to our daughter in law Lucy for being here, she helped pick a very nice one. They put it in and it looks so nice, I actually like it better than the one we had before. Thanks Lucy!

All the furniture was put into the Living room and it looks like a mess! They had to remove all the wet padding under the carpeting and tore out the linoleum in the kitchen. There are a few things that still have to be done, along with shampooing some of the carpeting and refinishing the mess the water made on the cabinet under the sink. Hopefully it will soon be back in order and the clutter and mess will be over with. What a FIASCO !

Doctors ? I don't know !

I've been having a heaviness in my chest, especially if I got over tired or if I had to bend over to pick up something from the floor, or if I bent down to pet our little dog Petie. I would feel like I couldn't catch my breath. So, I decided that I better make an appointment with the cardiologist that Al has gone to and I've seen him a couple of times too in the past several years.

When I called a couple of weeks ago, they set up an appointment for Friday, May 30th
at 4:15PM. When Al and I got there, I signed in and we sat down and waited for over half an hour. Then I heard someone call my name and I thought it was time to see the doctor. Instead, when I got to the door, the girl in the office told me that the doctor was not there. She wanted to reschedule an appointment for me and I, being very upset said, "No, I'll call at another time".

Yeah, don't hold your breath! There is NO WAY that I will ever go to see him again. The very same thing happened to Tony several months ago with the same doctor.

VERY UNPROFESSIONAL !!!!!

A wonderful weekend

Saturday morning on May 24th at 3:00am our dear son Steve came up from San Diego with his daughters Stefani, Alyssa and her husband Craig and their adorable little puppy "Bella". What a long and trying trip that had to be for them. Al and I stayed up waiting for their arrival. How wonderful to see them, it's been a long while since we saw them last.

After we all got some rest, Steve took us all out for breakfast at the"Black Bear" Restaurant here in Tulare. It was GREAT! That's Steve's favorite place to go every time he comes up here

I made Chicken soup for dinner and my "Graham cracker banana cream cake". Tony and Lucy came too and we all had a nice time visiting together.

Then on Sunday, we all gathered at Tony and Lucy's house and Lucy had all kinds of different things for a GREAT lunch. Then we spent the afternoon and evening visiting with each other. So nice to have everyone together, just wish Andrea and Chris could have been with us.

Later that evening Steve started giving everyone a haircut, including me and later Casey and Steven came with their little son along with Greg and Shelly. After all the haircuts, Steve cut little William's hair. He never moved or fussed, How cute!

We came back home later, Steve and the kids got the car all packed and they left for home at around 9:30PM

Steve called when they arrived home at 1:00AM. So wonderful to have them all here!!!

Medical stress

It's been a long while since I've blogged, sooo where do I start ?

OH YES, I KNOW!

A few weeks ago I went to my Doctor for a check up. He said my cholesterol and blood pressure were very high. He wrote out a couple of prescriptions which I had filled. I took them for about 3 or 4 days and eased off of them a little at a time. I was told by my niece about a product at the Vitamin Shoppe called ""CHOLEST OFF" and I take 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening with food and I also sent for an all natural capsule called "Blood Pressure Protect" and since taking that my blood pressure has been better than normal. We have a Blood Pressure Monitor, and I check mine every day. So now we'll see what my next reading will be at my next appointment
without taking any MEDS.

Medical stress

I have been feeling rather kind of bad lately, coughing quite often, swelling of my ankles, tired, chest discomfort, dizziness, no pain in my chest, but a rather heavy feeling. I have received several medical letters and also got some pamphlets that I picked up at the VA when Al had to go there for his Medications. All the articles I have read points to "Congestive Heart Failure". So I decided to go to my Doctor and have it checked out.

My appointment was over a week ago and after he checked me out, he said my blood pressure was very high and the blood test showed that my Cholesterol was very high also, so he ordered an "Ultra Sound" which I had done last Monday, that's five days ago.
Haven't heard a word about the results yet.

What's the purpose of all these tests and then they leave you hanging, stressed, worried and whatever, until you're about to have a heart attack. I don't know when they will come up with an answer for me. That's exactly why i hate going to Doctors.

Guess I'll have to wait it out till they're good and ready to let me know. Hope they don't come up with more bad news. we'll see!

Anniversary

Well here we are, sixty one years later and still hanging on to life and each other. Can't believe that 61 years have passed and looking back we are wondering "Where did all those years go." Anyway we're very thankful to our Lord that we've made it this far. Sometimes life gets hard, we've had our happy times and our sad times and I'm sure everyone does but I'm glad that we're still here together.

We've been blessed with two wonderful Sons, Tony and Steve, three granddaughters, Andrea, Stefani and Alyssa and a grandson, Nicholas, plus another grandson through marriage, Christopher, Andrea's husband, who had his name changed to ours and we're honored to have him in our family.

Al and I went to Applebee's Restaurant, they showed several dinners on TV that sounded so good, so we decided to try it out. BIG MISTAKE! It was really bad, Al's steak was very tough and what I had was so dried out that I couldn't hardly chew it. Oh well, they will never see us there again.

New Pet

Al and I have had several pets through the years and after losing our last little Pomeranian because of leukemia, we missed her so much that we were thinking about getting another Pet. We don't travel or go anywhere anymore except Church on Sundays and spend a few hours at our Son and Daughter in law's house. Our Daughter in law always makes a delicious dinner for all of us to enjoy, bless her heart. Then we go home and start another week of boredom. No one comes by to visit, we just do whatever and watch TV till bed time.

So, Monday Dec.17th we decided to go to the SPCA in Visalia to see if they may have a small pet for us to adopt. Well, to our surprise there was an adorable male Pomeranian mix, with a golden tan and white coat, staring at us as if to say " Please
take me home with you." When we asked about him, they told us to come back the next day, Tuesday, and we would be able to adopt him but they needed to give him his shots and have him neutered before we could take him. On the following day, Wednesday,
he was ready to come home.

He is such a quiet and obedient pet, doesn't jump on the furniture, never barks, he's so well behaved and seems so attached to us already. He follows me where ever I go around the house or he will lay along side of us where ever we may be sitting, or he will go into his crate and take a nap. He sleeps all night without making a sound.

We're so happy to have had the opportunity to claim this adorable lost pet. He will have a loving home here with us. We named him "Petie"
