Anniversaries

Today, January 23rd 2007 brings back a beautiful memory. Our dear son Tony and our dear daughter-in-law Lucy are celebrating their 36th anniversary. I can't believe it's been that long.

I remember the very first time I saw "little Lucy" was when her Dad and Mom and her little brother Alvin came to visit us at our church branch in San Diego, and when they walked by and I saw this adorable little girl with auburn (reddish) hair, I thought, how cute she is.

Several years later. we went to one of our church "camp outs" I think it was "Camp Radford",not sure. Al and I were standing outside on the balcony of the building we were in, and as we looked down below us we saw this cute young girl talking to some friends. I remember, distinctly, her wearing a pair of brown slacks with an up side down shaped v like this "/\" and it had a rose or red colored insert
with buttons on it. She looked so cute, and i turned to Al and said, "Isn't she cute, wouldn't she be nice for our Tony ? Al nodded and said "yeah". Never knowing that our Tony had already made friends with her and from that day on they started a life long friendship that turned into a beautiful life together.

They became engaged, and set a wedding date for January 23rd,1971. A few days before the wedding, my mother, Lena LaCommare, and I , along with the help of Lucy's Mom, Lydia Cavallaro, and others, we made 400 Cannoli shells and made the filling the day before the wedding. That was a lot of work, but well worth it. At the time we were living in our first Mobile Home in San Diego. The Park overlooked highway 94 and our home was above the freeway.

We had the reception at the Club House and it all went just beautifully. After the wedding, Tony and Lucy went to live in Strathmore, Calif. with Lucy's Mom and Dad.

On the day of their wedding it was Gene and Theresa's 11th anniversary.
Many joyful and beautiful memories !
